How to Change Bank Account in BHIM App

Last Updated: December 25, 2019 · By: Sunil Kumar

In this post, I’ll show you how to change bank account in BHIM app, add another account and remove the same.

Steps are very easy to follow, for your help I have embedded a video also, you can watch video instructions to add new bank account in BHIM app. Let’s know the process.

BHIM Unified Payment Interface (UPI) app is launched by National Payments Cooperation of India to encourage people to make more digital transactions. As claimed by the authority, BHIM app lets an individual make cashless payments with no or very low transaction fee.

But personally, I have observed some drawbacks of this app for example if someone knows your PIN and has access to your phone then he or she can easily misuse your BHIM UPI. One can overcome this issue by enabling app lock feature for BHIM UPI app.

However, BHIM app is very convenient to send or receive money; only you need to use it carefully. As discussed above, in this tutorial, I am going to show you how to add new bank account in BHIM app and remove existing.

You can use the same method to add multiple accounts in BHIM app because after adding a new account to BHIM, you will have an option to remove previous bank account from BHIM app or you can let it be there.

You may already know that BHIM app lets you make transactions digitally by using your mobile number. At the time of registration (know how to register on BHIM app), it shows you list of banks to choose from and you can link any of your bank accounts with the app.

If you have more than one bank accounts linked to your mobile number then you can change default bank account in BHIM app anytime. Or you can link another bank account in BHIM app. You can make any of them as your default BHIM account.

Users can make as many as shifts they want for example if you want to send Rs. 1000 from a linked account and after some time you want to send Rs. 2000 from another linked account then you can do so.

This is indeed a good facility. In emergency situation, you don’t need to visit your bank, you can login to your BHIM app and can transfer the amount.

Let me quickly show you how to add new bank account in BHIM app. As mentioned earlier, you can use the same method to add multiple accounts in BHIM app.

Do you know? You can send money (or make payments) to any other UPI app for instance Paytm, Google Pay and the like directly from you BHIM app. If you want to make payment using your BHIM app but retailer doesn’t have BHIM app then you still can make payment; if retailer accepts payment through other UPI apps. Just scan other app’s UPI code or enter UPI ID to make payment.
